If you are following my posts, then you must know that I am already doing a reading challenge #ARCAugust this month, but here I am with another challenge for the month (Am I being ambitious?). So this is totally a last minute entry, but I am glad to announce that I’ll be taking part in #TheReadingQuest challenge hosted by Read at Midnight. This challenge will be held from 13th August until 10th September. This is a reading adventure based entirely on a video-game quest which encourages participants to reduce their TBR pile using interesting prompts!
This challenge has a unique premise of using character levels and prompts to gain points as you progress in the challenge. It’s a competition and there are chances to win the exciting prizes as per the prompts you complete.
You get to choose a character which in turn determines the type of books you have to read in order to satisfy the prompt! It then rewards with EXP and HP points. I will be updating this post as I make progress with my list of completed quests.
Check out Aentee’s original post here to get the full info on the challenge and I hope you join the quest! Also, a huge shoutout to CW of Read, Think, Ponder. She is the amazing artist behind all of the character illustration for this challenge. You can find her on Instagram, Twitter, and her stunning blog! Please go give her all your love.
The basic mechanics of the reading challenge is simple: it’s based on a bingo board (termed The Quest Board for our purposes), each square on the board represents a stage (or reading prompt) you must complete. There is one crucial variation, the path you take on the bingo board is entirely dependent on your chosen Character Class.
You have four characters to choose from:
How CUTE are these characters, aren’t they? Along with the separate Character Class quest levels (Purple Squares), the center of the Quest Board is a conglomeration of Side Quests (Blue Squares)! You can complete these challenges to earn extra points and bonus experience for your character.
The full Quest Board is below:
Once you pick a character, you must stay on their path (or the side quests) before you can proceed to another character. If you do complete your first chosen character’s quest before the quest period is over, you can follow a new character path for additional points. Also, you only need to read one book for each of the four corner stages on the quest board.

So I have decided to go with Mage because I think I have a good choice of books to accomplish the prompts (also he is super adorable 😀 ).
My #TheReadingQuest TBR
I have decided to read following books for Mage’s prompts (however, I may change them during the challenge). I will keep updating this list.
- A Book with a One Word Title: Antisocial by Heidi Cullinan
- 460 pages: +46 HP
- Marginalized author: +20 EXP

- 360 pages: +36 HP

- 280 pages: +28 HP
- Marginalized author: +20 EXP
- A Book Set in a Different World: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling
- 462 pages: +46 HP (2 pages leftover)
- The First Book of a Series: The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot #1) by Agatha Christie
- 304 pages: +30 HP (4 pages leftover)
Total points on completion of Mage’s quest (+50 EXP on completion before the challenge period):
- +100 EXP
- +196 HP
I know, two Harry Potter books 😀 But can’t help it. I have to finish the series soon.
If I complete these prompts in time, then I may do the prompts in Side Quests. And hopefully, I’ll remain active on Twitter too.
Are you participating in this challenge? What’s your character?
Which books have you decided to read?
Thanks for reading and stay connected! ♥
