Hi everyone! This is my first ever book tag. I wasn’t tagged for this by anyone, but I really loved this book tag and it was open for anyone to do. So why not?
I know that the name says “Mid-Year” but it’s almost end of the year, so I am pretty late for it. The thing is, I discovered it too late. But I hope you would still enjoy it! It’s a good way to revise and look up to all the books that I have read in 2017 so far.
I don’t know about you that whether you freak out or not being a bookworm, but I surely do, and even right now I am freaking while writing this. This is because I haven’t read even half of the books that I had actually planned to read at the year start 🙁 I am not behind on my reading goal of the year, but still, it feels so.
Am I is it weird?
So let’s begin with the important discussion of the moment 😀
1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017
Well, if you have to choose between Harry Potter and any other book, which one will you choose? I would definitely pick Harry Potter 😀 This is my first time reading HP (yes right!), and I totally enjoyed the first book – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I haven’t still read the next parts, but I am sure they are just as good as this (I have seen the movies). This is definitely one of my best read of the year.
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017
I haven’t read many series this year. You Loved Me is, in fact, the only series that I have completed and it is undoubtedly one of my favourite series. You Loved at my Weakest was a great sequel to this wonderful series.
3. New release you haven’t read yet but want to
Haha.. Well, this is the question for which I have multiple answers 😀 There are so many new releases that I haven’t read yet. A Court of Wings and Ruin, Carve the Mark, Geekerella and The Crowns of Croswald are my top choices. Out of these, Geekerella and The Crowns of Croswald are in my September TBR. However, I am not sure when I’ll be able to read the rest two. In fact, I haven’t started the A Court of Thorns and Roses series yet (I know!). I don’t know why but I haven’t any inspiration to start this series.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Hands down, these two are definitely my most anticipated releases for the second half of the year. I haven’t read any thing by Leigh Bardugo previously, so Wonder Woman: Warbringer definitely seems to be a good option. Although I have already seen the movie which I loved, so I just waiting for its release in India 😀 The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is one of my favourite books of all time and since when I heard about his new book Turtles All the Way Down, I am impatiently waiting for it 😛
5. Biggest disappointment
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway was for sure my biggest disappointment. I know this is one of the most popular classics and you have to like it for various reasons and should read at least once, but seriously I didn’t like it a bit. I finished it somehow just because the sake of this being the noble prize winner and heard so much great things. But there was not even a single thing that I liked about it.
6. Biggest surprise
Harappa by Vineet Bajpai was something special. I didn’t expect it to be so good, like literally and the author just amazed me with the story and interesting plot throughout. I am going to write its review soon.
7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
I loved Lanka’s Princess by Kavita Kané. Not just the story but the writing style was too good. I am really hoping to read her other books soon.
8. Newest fictional crush
As I said earlier this series is one of my favourites now, so obviously my fictional crush is from this series too. It’s Jake from You Loved Me At My Darkest. He is just so hot and dashing (I can imagine him :P). Though in all the books of the series there are different pairs highlighted, they are interlinked. So whenever, Jake and Lily appeared in the story, it just made me happy. they were like the perfect couple.
9. Newest favorite character
Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a wonderful story and I totally loved Auggie (August Pullman) as a character. I felt as if I can relate to him. He was just a child with a deformed face. He made my heart so warm and happy. I can’t wait for the movie to release and I am sure the movie will be wonderful too.
10. Book that made you cry
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher was I guess, the most controversial book of the year. Many people liked it, many hated it. But I loved it. Not just the book, but even the TV series. In fact, the TV series was much better than the book. And obviously, I cried hard. this book left so many thoughts and emotions on my mind. It was the first time, that I kept on thinking about this for many days.
11. Book that made you happy
This book was so cute and it just left me feeling happy after it completed. Though there was the sad part too, still it was a happy read for me. Eleanor & Park was my first Rainbow Rowell book, but definitely not the last.
12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year
I first saw the movie adaptation and then read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them: Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling. I guess, it made more sense and the book was exactly same as the movie, but obviously, it was better with the effects. I totally loved it. It was so much fun and refreshing to experience that HP magic again.
13. Favorite review you’ve written this year
The first review that I wrote on this blog was of Animal Farm by George Orwell so it will always be special for me. Not just because of being the first one, but it laid the basic structure of my future reviews 😀 Also, I totally loved this book and it was unexpected for me. The story just touched me so deeply.
14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received so far this year
If you know me well, then you must know that when it comes to covers, then I am a greatest book cover hoarder 😀 Not in terms of buying the books just by the cover, rather buying the most beautiful edition of the book. I have bought many beautiful covers this year, but this edition of 1984 by George Orwell is one of my favourites, which I recently acquired. Since when I saw this edition on social media I was keeping an eye on its price and finally bought it when it was in my budget 😛
15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Again, there are many books which fall on this list. But Agatha Christie is definitely the author that I have to start reading. It’s my one of the bookish goals to read all her books, and yet I haven’t read a single book of hers. But definitely, I am going to change that before this year end 😀 The Mysterious Affair At Styles is the first book that she wrote, so I am going to start with this only.
Phew!! That was a long list. I have tried to incorporate different books for each of the questions. I am not tagging anyone, in particular, to do this tag because I guess most of the people have already done it or most will not like to do it since it’s already half past the year. But still, if you want to do it, then consider yourself tagged. I will be happy to see your answers.
Have you done this tag this year? If yes, please leave the link to your post below! I would love to see what your answers were for the questions!
Thanks for reading and stay connected! ♥
