Top Ten Tuesday #5 | 10 book covers that I fall in love at first sight

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is posted and the bloggers can share their own list accordingly. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here.

Happy Tuesday guys! This time, I am doing a little twist to Top Ten Tuesday‘s topic. Today’s topic is Ten Books With Fall/Autumn Covers/Themes (If the cover screams fall to you, or the books give off a feeling of being Fallish). Basically I can’t think of 10 such books so instead, I have twisted the topic to this: 10 book covers that I fall in love at first sight. It is meant to be about book covers anyway, so I think it perfectly fits. Isn’t it? πŸ˜€

If you are following my blog for a while, then you must know that I am basically a book cover hoarder πŸ˜€ I live for beautiful book covers. No, seriously. It has happened to many times that I got rid of a book if its cover doesn’t appeal me and then have purchased the same book with the prettier edition, even if I didn’t read it. AM I CRAZY? πŸ˜› Sorry, but not sorry, can’t help it!

Let’s keep moving and see few of my 10 favourite covers (yes, this list is many pages long :D).

10 book covers that I fall in love at first sight

1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them by J.K. Rowling
Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

This is by far my favourite cover in terms of illustrations. Just look at the details. It’s a perfect blue cover with golden print which just doubles its beauty. SIGH Beautiful. I ordered this book right after watching the movie and this book is the perfect example for “books can be judged by cover too” πŸ˜›

2. 1984 by George Orwell

1984: George Orwell

Just look at the simplicity of this cover. It is so unique just so breathtaking. I saw this cover first on someone’s Instagram feed (sorry I don’t remember the name) and I immediately added this to my wishlist. At that time it is little costlier for my price range so I waited for its price to go down. Here, I must admit that I haven’t read it yet. I had a different edition of this book which was not at all appealing (I don’t know why have I even purchased that edition) so it never encouraged me to read this. But now I have this beautiful edition and I a definitely going to read it soon πŸ˜€ Trust me, this book looks way more BEAUTIFUL in person!

3. The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas

The Hate You Give by Angie ThomasAmazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

This is a book edition for which I waited too long. The paperback edition was available in my price range since the day this book was released. But this hardcover edition was just too costly and that too was available with extra import duty, like seriously? I was lucky that I was in touch with a friend on Instagram who instantly told me about the price drop and I ordered it immediately πŸ˜€ Just look at the simplicity of the cover. I haven’t got the chance of reading it yet (I know, I know !), but I can tell just by looking at the cover that how great read it is.

4. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

A Game of Thrones: Illustrated edition

Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

I instantly fell in love with this huge edition, as soon as I saw this. Just look at the fine print. This edition has beautiful illustrations inside. The only bad thing about this is that the other books in the series are not available yet in this edition and there is no further news about them πŸ™ I just love this show. there is no other show in comparison of this.

5. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

This is another example of an edition where I didn’t read the book because of the edition available with me. Now, look at this edition. Isn’t it breathtaking?

6. Geekerella by Ashley Poston

Geekerella by Ashley Poston

Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

Like most of the book in this list, this cover isn’t much with details. But still, it is awesome. There is a kind of Geek vibe with typical Cinderella feel. This cover is a perfect example of Beauty and Brains πŸ˜€

7. Harry Potter Hogwarts Library set by J.K. Rowling
Fantastic beasts and Where to Find Them : Hogwarts LibraryQuidditch through the ages- Hogwarts LibraryThe Tales of Beedle the Bard : Hogwarts Library

Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

I must admit that Harry Potter has some really nice editions. Just look at the details of these new editions of Hogwarts Library set. The bright color of each of the book perfectly matches with the gold embossing. Aren’t you already in love with these covers?

8. The Arabian Nights by Richard Burton

The Arabian Nights

Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

I talked about this edition in my last Stacking the Shelves post too as I acquired it last week only. I so wanted to own it since I saw this on someone’s Instagram feed (yes I don’t remember the name again πŸ˜› ). But seriously, look at the cover. It is still costly but I just wanted to own it anyhow πŸ˜€ This cover is so DREAMY!!

9. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Amazon IN | Amazon US | Goodreads

Just not this book, but every book in Penguin Cloth Bound classics series is beautiful. All of the books have some vibrant colors which clearly speaks to the readers. I just own Pride and Prejudice for now, but I am planning to acquire more titles in these editions soon πŸ™‚

10. Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm

Well, this is the only book in today’s list that I don’t own till now. Actually, I can’t decide which one to buy out of these two editions. First edition is from Canterbury CLassics while the second one is from Barnes & Noble. Though both of these are costly, I love these editions and I am conflicted. Can you help me decide which one is better? πŸ˜›

Which edition should I buy

  • Barnes & Noble (100%, 4 Votes)
  • Thunder Bay Press (Canterbury Classics) (0%, 0 Votes)

Let's Chat

This is just a small list of book covers that I love πŸ™‚ I must agree that classics do have some pretty covers and I think that it is really a great thing that publishers do keep the classics alive!

I am also thinking of creating a new bookish meme on my blog where I can talk about the various editions available. What do you think? Is it a good idea? Will you be interested?

Are any of these covers on your favourite list too? Do you want to own any of them? Leave me your link of today’s Top Ten Tuesday and I will check it out πŸ™‚

Awesome twist on the topic! I am such a cover-ho, and fall for all the pretty covers. There were so many epic cover reveals last week too. That Grimm’s cover looks gilded. Is it gilded? Lovely. I am such a fan of Geekerella. The story was worthy of the cute cover. I recently read Kids Like Us, and I must say, the cover is very beautiful.

I loved The Hate U Give! I am a sucker for any and all Harry Potter books, too! I have corralled myself to only collecting the illustrated editions. If I hadn’t I would be going crazy! Ha ha. I do need to re-buy the series in regular hardcover though because ours are very very very well loved and the first three are falling apart. I love your twist on the TTT prompt. πŸ™‚

Glad to spy “Geekerella” in your collection of covers!! That one is so cute, though I’ve not read it. Yet. Hopefully I’ll be reading it soon – because I do love the sound of it. Oh, and “Hearthless” is pretty. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Simant. πŸ™‚
