Happy Tuesday guys! It’s been ages since I last posted? Yeah, the life is going little tough right now with the new job in the new city and whole home arrangement. I know, I should have scheduled posts in advance but really I don’t have any excuse for this πŸ™ But alas, finally my WiFi is up and running so I am able to write this post and luckily it’s the Top Ten Tuesday πŸ˜€

Christmas is around the corner and I can definitely see the festive vibes around me. Though we don’t celebrate Christmas here, still it brings joy to me. Today’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday is Top Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings.

Well, I have tons of books are on my wishlist and probably more than that are in my TBR πŸ˜€ Still books can’t be enough, right? πŸ˜€ Most of the books on my wishlist are because of the beautiful covers πŸ˜› So let’s see what I wish for this Christmas (though I know there is no Santa here for me πŸ™ ).

Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings

Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales : Barnes & NobleThe Kite Runner by Khaled HosseiniThe One Hundred Nights of HeroThe Great Gasby by F.Scott FitzgeraldSing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward

These all have lovely covers, isn’t it? This Barnes & Noble edition of Grimm’s Fairy Tales is so beautiful I can’t even. I so want this edition but I can’t see myself getting this sooner. It is just too costly here πŸ™ Well, let’s hope there is actually any Santa πŸ˜€

Bloomsbury has recently launched 10 modern classics in new editions and they are so beautiful. I won one book in Bloomsbury giveaway but the one that I want is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I haven’t read any Khaled Hosseini’s books yet (I know) and when I saw this edition, I just knew that I have to read this.

One Hundred Nights of Hero by Isabel Greenberg is a graphic novel about which I came to know from The Book Satchel on Instagram. I always trust her recommendations and well, the story and illustrations seem amazing. Yes, it is costly too so I can’t afford it now πŸ™

F.Scott Fitzgerald is another renowned author that I am yet to read. I have seen The Great Gatsby movie and I loved it (maybe because of Leonardo? πŸ˜€ ) so I want to read this book for so long. This edition of The Great Gatsby is so beautiful and I definitely want to own it. Other books in this edition by Penguin are equally beautiful.

Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward recently got the National Book Award and was in so much hype. I have read great reviews about this book from fellow bloggers. I definitely want to own and read it soon.

Anne of Green GablesThe Book of Chocolate Saints To All the Boys I've Loved Before Forest of A Thousand Lanterns In Order to Live by Yenomi Park

In my childhood, we were not encouraged to read books out of the course so I can’t say that I am reading from my childhood. Because of this I still have to read many children classics and one of those classics is Anne of Green Gables. The other reasons for me to select this is the cover of this Puffin Bloom edition (off course) and the Netflix series that I want to see but only after I read it πŸ™‚

The Book of Chocolate Saints by Jeet Thayil is currently in a lot of discussion among Indian book lovers. The publisher, Aleph Book Company, is slowly making its place in my favourite Indian publishers list because of their selection of unique categories. This is one of my highly anticipated book from their catalog.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is in my TBR for too long now but I am not able to purchase this till date because of the high price of the hardcover. I haven’t started this series yet but I am sure that this is going to be a 4 or 5 star read for me πŸ˜€ I love contemporaries!

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns has recently gathered a lot of applause and great reviews and I too was excited after reading the blurb. it sure sounds interesting and I am secretly wishing to get the hardcover somehow πŸ˜›

My list would have been incomplete without including a non-fiction. Recently I discovered that I love reading non-fiction but obviously in certain categories, so I have decided to read more non-fiction next year. And the next in line is In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park who is famous for her escape from North Korea. I was hooked when I saw her interviews on YouTube so I definitely want to read this.

If I am at a bookstore, the cover catches my eye first. But if I am on goodreads or another book site, the cover/title will draw me in, but then the blurb will be the deciding factor on whether I add it to reading list.

I do own Jenny Han’s ‘Boys’ trilogy but haven’t yet read them! That said, I sense this is 100% my loss because I hear SO many good things about them, and they seem 100% like “me reads.” Hope these find a way under your tree. πŸ™‚

I’d love Santa to leave that edition of The Great Gatsby under my Christmas tree. I’ve three different editions already. =P I love To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before so much. <3 Hopefully, I'll read the final book in January.

    Happy readings! πŸ˜‰

The first time I read The Great Gatsby I hated it with all my heart. The second time I felt like smacking myself for not loving the book the first time I read it.

Theoretically, it shouldn’t be the cover that draws you in, but we’re visual creatures. I do tend to notice covers first, but always look at the blurbs, too. My daughter read The Great Gatsby this year in school and loved it (although she says it made her mad, hah), so I hope you enjoy it too!

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!

Yes for Anne of Green Gables! A wonderful read, and I’m sure you’d enjoy it a lot. I read Gatsby, but I didn’t really like it… And I’ve heard of Yeonmi Park’s book, but I already have two books with a similar topic, so I never grabbed that one, but I’m sure it’s a great choice. I really hope Santa is kind to you this year haha πŸ˜€

Yeah there are other books on same topic as that of Yeonmi Park’s but I am sure that is good. I hope there is actual Santa out there for me 🀣

I really like your list – I want you to get Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, because it's the only book I have read on here and thought it was really good, I would be so curious to hear your thoughts about that one especially πŸ˜€

New job is good so far though I am not able to understand the requirements of my new project 😜 The city is bad in terms of traffic 😭 I spent one and half hours in the morning and same in the evening in traveling 😐
I have heard great things about Forest of Thousand Lanterns. It is just that the paperback of this is not available yet and hardcover is too costly for me 😭 But ai hope to get it soon(maybe an actual Santa is there for me 😜)

      1. Marie

Oh I hope you’ll understand everything soon! It’s always hard to adapt and get everything at first but you’ll manage, I am sure of it πŸ™‚
Aw, I’m sorry to hear that! Travelling a whole lot to go to work is SO annoying, I also spend an hour in the morning to go to work and same on the evening :/
Oh yay, I’m hoping that you will be able to get your hands on this one soon <3

I heard about One Hundred Nights of Hero from The Book Satchel too. It sounds so so so good. Next time I request graphic novels from my library, it’s going to be on my list. I loved Forest of a Thousand Lanterns. It’s fantastic if you like grey characters. Enjoy the holidays!

Ooh! Great list! I actually got an ARC of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns and read the first bit and then….got caught up with stuff and haven’t been able to get back to it. I really, REALLY liked it though so hopefully I can finish it soon!

I think for me the blurb and the reviews are what move a book into my wishlist. Especially for audiobooks, making sure other people liked it is key.

May you get all the books you desire!!! (Which is now the sign off I will be using whenever I leave a party.)

Love the list! We have too much in common, Sim! And I loved it! Well, I have To All the Boys I love Before, Sing, Unburied, Sing and The Kite Runner which is all I’m planning to read. I have a physical copy of TKR and two of Khaled’s book because I know I will love him hard. So, I’ll look forward to your
future post. Btw, how’s your new life?

Thanks Jerich. I hope to read them all soon 😊
New life is good just hectic. This city has so much traffic and I feel like so much time is wasted in just traveling 😰 But new job has free food so I guess that’s make it equal πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

I read the Great Gatsby ages ago but I didn’t like it. It just left me indifferent πŸ™ That’s a pity because that edition is amazing and other novel were published like this. I’m a bit doubtulf that I will read it again. Or maybe I should try to read it in the original language.
I would love to get Forest of a Thousand Lanterns too <3
