Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic isΒ Ten Books I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To and this is the topic for which I have N number of books to list down. Like seriously! Probably you know that how lazy I am and the books keep piling on my uncontrollable-never-ending TBR stack πŸ˜€ Probably I ended up buying and requesting more books than I should have been. But yet, here I am.. no regrets πŸ˜€

I regret nothing meme

Well, personally I don’t regret it but definitely, I hate it. I haven’t even completed my fall list last year. I just read a couple of books from that list. But maybe I can get to read them this year? Finger’s crossed! I have even joined the #BeatTheBacklist challenge for the same purpose. So let’s see which are the books that I am totally hoping to read this year finally. And don’t be shocked πŸ˜€

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8)Fantastic beasts and Where to Find Them : Hogwarts LibraryThe Tales of Beedle the Bard : Hogwarts Library

1. The rest of the Harry Potter series: Yes you read it right! I haven’t read the complete series of Harry Potter yet. In fact, I read the first book last year itself. It’s not like I am unaware of the HP world, but haven’t gotten around to really read it. But this year I am definitely going to finish this series with hopefully all the companion books.

A court of Thorns and Roses A Court of Mist and Fury A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

2. ACOTAR series: I don’t know why I kept on delaying this series. I guess too much hype for this series made me go away from this? I think 2018 is the year where I need to finally read it and hopefully before the fourth book in the series is coming out.

The Bear and the NightingaleThe Hate You Give by Angie ThomasWonder WomanMiss laila, Armed and DangerousGeekerella by Ashley Poston

3. The Bear and the Nightingale: This is probably one of the most talked about series in previous months and I don’t want to delay it enough.

4. The Hate You Give: I know, I know. This is the best read of 2017 for many of you and I am sure it will be for me too. It’s just that the hype thing got me for this book too πŸ™ Now the buzz is relatively low for this one and I guess I can pick up this now.

5. Wonder Woman: Ahh, another wonderful read which is just eating dust on my shelf.

6. Miss Laila Armed and Dangerous: I have read very strong reviews about this one till date and I should not wait to read it anymore.

7. Geekerella: Starting 2018 with contemporary reads, I guess it is best suited now to read this retelling. And have I told you I love Cinderella?

The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot #1) And Then There Were NoneHeartless by Marissa MeyerWhen Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

8. The Mysterious Affair at Styles / And Then There Were None: Have I told you how ashamed I am to include Agatha Christie here? I am probably in that least population of bookworms who haven’t read Cristie yet. And guess what, it’s my lifetime goal to read all her books and yet I haven’t started reading her. What am I even doing? I don’t know, it just shifts from my current TBR every time. But now it’s enough!

9. Heartless: Probably one of the best retellings in recent year?

10. When Dimple Met Rishi: Now when Sandhya Menon is going to launch her next book soon I guess it is perfect to read this before it’s release. And I know I am going to love it πŸ˜€

I absolutely loved When Dimple Met Rishi, and highly recommend it, but I also haven’t read the other books on your list. Okay, I’m lying: I read the first book in the ACOTAR series, and the first three books in the Harry Potter series, but I really need to work on finishing them, too!

To be honest I’m a little bit jealous of you for not having read all the Harry Potter novels yet, that way you still get to discover them for the first time which is (hopefully) going to be amazing! I re-read the whole series last year and only just read the third book again due to the new illustrated edition and those books just never get boring, you can always discover new details!

I also read my first Agatha Christie novel last year which happened to be “And Then There Were None” which was really good and hard to put down! I’m kind of in an Agatha Christie fever right now and want to collect and read all her books πŸ˜€ “Murder on the Orient Express” is great, too!

Haha thanks Sebastian 😊 I have seen all the movies but yes reading them is another experience.
Yay, for Agatha Christie! It’s my bookish goal to read all her published work one day πŸ˜ƒ I have two of her books and I am planning to read them in the order of publication 😊 I read somewhere today that though they are not connected, for gaining the best Christie experience you should read them in order if publication πŸ˜ƒ

That might be a good idea! I’ve read β€œElephants Can Remember”, one of the last Hercule Poirot novels, recently and in one scene the characters talked about three of his older cases (which are novels, too) and even gave away the conclusion >.< So to avoid spoilers it’s probably better to read them in chronological order πŸ˜€

This is a great list! I never seem to be caught up with my reading. I’m always adding new books to my stacks, so it’s really no wonder, is it? Sounds like you are in a similar boat. I hope you are able to finish the Harry Potter books. They are so much fun. I love The Hate U Give and Wonder Woman: Warbringer was good as well. The Bear and the Nightingale made my list too.

I read Geekerella in 2017 and absolutely loved it! And don’t feel bad, I haven’t read most of the Harry Potter series, either! I read the first four books and then, for some reason, just stopped. So they are all re-reads for me this year.

I RELATE. I RELATE 100% I meant to read more Harry Potter… but I just didn’t. It’s hard for me to enjoy them so I’m still stuck on book 3. I didn’t read a single one last year although I meant to get around to reading the fourth one. Maybe 2018 πŸ˜› I also really want and wanted to read The Hate U Give, Heartless and Wonder Woman. Hopefully we can both get to all of those soon!

Haha sure hopefully πŸ˜ƒ The backlist books are always so hard to get back too. I don’t know why but I stopped HP after just reading the first book last year, though I totally enjoyed it.

I wish I’d maybe waited until the hype died down for THUG…it was very good, but I was expecting it to be life life-changing and it felt disappointing that it wasn’t all I’d thought it would be. I did super love The Bear and the Nightingale and its sequel, The Girl In The Tower!

A Flame in the Mist! I want to read it so bad and The Name they gave Us by Emery Lord. You have to read The Hate U Give and ACOTAR, really πŸ˜‰

I feel the same way about ACOTAR! I’m always cautious about super-hyped books. You should love And Then There Were None- it was my first Christie book πŸ™‚ If you do like it, the 1945 movie is a really great follow up as well!

Thanks Gayathri 😊 I am using Freepik and Photoshop and Canva for the graphics 😊 And that Manu Joseph book has really some rave reviews. You should definitely read it and yes I have to read too πŸ˜€

  11. Aimee (Aimee, Always)

I’M NOT DONE WITH HARRY POTTER, EITHER! I’ve already read until the fourth book, though, so I’m a bit ahead of you. πŸ˜‰ I did like the books, but the length of the remaining 3 are INTIMIDATING. I have watched (and loved) all the movies, though, so hopefully that’ll help me power through them… Eventually. Heh.

    Thanks for sharing, Sim! <3
