Meet the blogger

Hi there

Welcome to my blog. Thank you for visiting this page to know more about me and for showing interest in my blog. This means a lot 🙂 And, yes this is not just any other About me page you can find on other blogs, but rather is more detailed information about me and my blog (and pardon me, if you feel bored). I hope you will stay connected!

MEET SIMANT!

I am Simant Verma from India. I am 29 years old. You must be thinking “what’s the meaning of her name?” (apparently, it’s the most asked question 😛 ). So in Hindi, if you will divide my name then it will become सीमा + अंत (sima + ant). सीमा in English means ‘extent’ or ‘border’ and अंत means ‘the end’. So the complete meaning is “a person whose borders has no limits” or “having endless extent”. And yes, this name was given to me by my father and he specially searched for a different name. Though this was very loving, everybody still thinks that it’s a boy name and I have faced many hilarious situations during my school life because of this. But I love him and he is the best. And yes, my friends call me Sim or Simmi, so can you ♥ You know what’s the biggest secret? I don’t look my age. Any random people will say that I am a school going girl. Yes, I am short, but doesn’t matter. I love reading (hence the blog) and traveling. I believe that these two things should be an integral part of everyone’s life.

And the Husband!

Yes, I am happily married for two years now with Manish (and yes I will refer to him here, often. Sorry, not so sorry! ). Though it was an arranged marriage, we are more like friends and live our lives like boyfriend and girlfriend rather than husband and wife 😀

He is a mechanical engineer by profession, while I am a software engineer. Well, Engineer + Engineer makes a better match I guess 😛

We have a lot of common interests (EXCEPT reading, what? Right!), which make are lives a little easier to manage and plan (but makes it little difficult sometimes as he is a non-reader).

How I came to reading and this blog?

Well, I’m pretty new at reading. I won’t tell lie that I am doing it since my childhood and have read so many books. But I love reading, I seriously do. I have a full-time job, so it’s hard to find time to read more often, but I try to find time to read whenever I can. So starting the year 2017, I decided to turn my book love into a hobby and started taking it more seriously. I started using my Goodreads account which was lying in a dark and forgettable corner of my life 😀 And alas! that was the start. I started writing reviews on GR, made a Bookstagram account (you know, an Instagram account dedicated to books only) and actually set a goal for a specific number of books to read. I came through some really good reading challenges for 2017 and decided to take part in those, so it was easier to decide what to actually read. And the final step? THIS BLOG!!

What do I like to read?

Well, I like to read almost every genre. I like to read anything that doesn’t bore me. But yes, there are a few genres that I won’t select particularly, unless forced to or if there is any important reason to read it, like Horror, Non-fiction (excluding biographies/memoir/humor), Political, Spiritual and a few others which belong to same categories. I don’t know every genre available there or all the bookish things, but I surely want to explore them all some day.

My ultimate bookish GOALS!

Like my travel goals, I have many bookish goals too. But my ultimate goals are:

  • Reading a book from each country in the world (author should be from that country) ♥
  • Reading all the books by Agatha Christie
  • Read all the books that I own (one day will come!)

What will you get here?

Now the 100 dollars question – what will you get here? Well, as I mentioned earlier that I have created this blog to talk about bookish things (and I don’t have anyone in my family or friends who reads 🙁 ) and to improve my reading. So obviously there will be book reviews. Apart from that, there can be weekly discussions, some memes, monthly wrap-ups etc.

Apart from books, I might share some travel posts too, like if I visited a new place on weekend, my vacation etc. (I guess, that will be okay to share)
