Book Review | Second Chance by Sandeep Jatwa | Do you believe in second chances?

Second Chance by Sandeep Jatwa - book Review

The word second chance is ambitious in itself, isn’t it? How many of us actually get a second chance for correcting our deeds? Perhaps, Shekhar Kapoor got his second chance.

This is a story about billionaire Shekhar Kapoor, owner of Aerowalk shoes. He did many wrong things to remain in the industry and is quite arrogant because of his money. He destroyed lives of many people because of his desires to always be on top. But then, something happens which he didn’t believe “can happen to him because he was rich”. Yes, the death!

Book Review | The Whole Shebang by Lalita Iyer | Sticky bits of being a woman

The Whole Shebang by Lalita Iyer : Book Review

This is my first attempt to review a non-fiction over here (I mean on my blog). I don’t normally read non-fiction, but I must admit that I have enjoyed every single of them that I have read. This book was no different. I pretty enjoyed it. The first thing that attracts you towards this book is its title. It is a catchy one. Normally I find it little difficult to get hooked up into a non-fiction from the very first page. But this book was an exception on this parameter. It was right on the track from the very first page. This is a book by a woman, about women. It highlights some of the basic problems that women face on the daily basis and Lalita Iyer has presented them in a way that made you tickle.

eARC Review | She Be Damned by M.J. Tjia | A Victorian era mystery

Book Review: She Be Damned by M.J. Tjia

I don’t usually read mystery or thrillers. This is the one that I read after a long time. This is a debut novel of the author M.J. Tjia. She Be Damned is a historical mystery set in the Victorian era in London. The main protagonist of the story is Mrs. Heloise Chancey who is a courtesan and lives in Mayfair with her Chinese Maid Amah Li Leen. She got an assignment by Mr. Thomas Avery to find a missing girl named Eleanor, who was from a good family and was missing in London’s dark side, Waterloo. On the other hand, pregnant prostitutes in Waterloo area were being murdered and their sexual organs being mutilated and removed. They get the news of another girl getting murdered and they suspect that it may be Eleanor. Heloise decided to live in Waterloo, where her roots were, for investigating the case further.

eARC Review | The Chaos of Longing by K.Y. Robinson

eARC Review: The Chaos of Longing by K.Y. Robinson | Poetry of love and longing

This was my third poetry book that I read this year after Milk and Honey and Stuff I’ve Been Feeling Lately. I loved both those poetries and expected same from it, as the title seemed entruiging. I came to know about this title through poetry recommendations on NetGalley. However, it was way too different than the formers.

This poetry collection is divided into four parts: Inception, Longing, Chaos and Epiphany. The good thing about this poetry was that the author is speaking about herself in most of the parts. She is a woman of color (WoC) and we can imagine to some point that what she might have been gone through in her childhood. A few poems shows her roots and felt like raw thoughts.

Book Review | The THC: Under a Gibbous Moon by Manoj V Jain

The THC: Under a Gibbous Moon by Manoj V. Jain | Book Review

I won this book in a giveaway so I had no idea what this book was about (Yes I just enter randomly sometimes 😛 ). I just saw the opportunity to grab the book and I did. But the main reason why I decided to enter the giveaway in the first place was its title. Don’t you think the title is different and suspenseful? Well, the THC stands for The Holistic Center. It’s a fictional center setup in the story where the broken hearts are cured, those looking for closure get insights and return to the world with repaired soul.
