read-sleep-repeat-arc-august-2017

Well, I know this is a pretty late post, as I was supposed to officially post it when Read.Sleep.Repeat’s ARC August Challenge finished. But trust me, I totally forgot to post it and when I saw a post from a fellow blogger, I realized that it’s due to me too. probably, the half reason may be that I didn’t actually finish my goal? Well, whatever is this reason, let’s begin without further ado.

eARC Review | Strings: A Love Story by Megan Edwards

Strings: A Love Story by Megan Edwards

I hadn’t read a romance novel for a long time and when I saw this book on NetGalley I instantly requested for it because of its cover and the synopsis looked good too. But I have to say I was little disappointed. The story could have been turned out better.
The main protagonists of the story are Ted Spencer and Olivia de la Vega. The story follows their lives over decades of time, narrated by Ted. Ted is a violinist and wants to pursue his career in this. He met Olivia in his senior year of High School in the 1960s and instantly fell in love with her. Ted was from a wealthy background while Olivia was the daughter of a cleaning lady at the school. Despite their background differences, they planned to spend their lives together. But the fate was not with them and they got separated because of the family issues and Ted’s compassion for music.

eARC Review | She Be Damned by M.J. Tjia | A Victorian era mystery

Book Review: She Be Damned by M.J. Tjia

I don’t usually read mystery or thrillers. This is the one that I read after a long time. This is a debut novel of the author M.J. Tjia. She Be Damned is a historical mystery set in the Victorian era in London. The main protagonist of the story is Mrs. Heloise Chancey who is a courtesan and lives in Mayfair with her Chinese Maid Amah Li Leen. She got an assignment by Mr. Thomas Avery to find a missing girl named Eleanor, who was from a good family and was missing in London’s dark side, Waterloo. On the other hand, pregnant prostitutes in Waterloo area were being murdered and their sexual organs being mutilated and removed. They get the news of another girl getting murdered and they suspect that it may be Eleanor. Heloise decided to live in Waterloo, where her roots were, for investigating the case further.

Why I picked this book? Because I am a sucker for beautiful covers 😀 When I saw this book on NetGalley I instantly requested for it just because of the cover. I had no idea what this book will turn into. I am glad that I picked it up as it proved to be a great read.

This is a story about three nurses during World War 2. The story starts with Scarlet, who volunteers for joining the battlefield hospital, but her main aim was to find her fiancé Thomas who was missing from past few months.
